Hi there, I'm Anna
A project manager. A parent. An expat living in Düsseldorf, Germany.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many relocations for expats, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much more significant.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, doubt, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt dependable.
Why I Built MillIsleGear
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Germany.
What This Site Represents (And What It Doesn’t)
This site is:
- Practical knowledge gained from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when something truly changes
This site isn’t:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Germany continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Düsseldorf or anywhere in Germany, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Anna
